Glaze Wedding Reception - October 2011

Affordable Events & My Catering was my company of choice for my Wedding Reception on October, 22nd, 2011. I found the company by simply "Googling" for catering businesses in my area. Once I looked over A & E's website, I gave Mary a call. I knew from there, this was the business to go with.Mary was so nice and so cooperative through the entire process of pre-planning & making sure my wife and I arranged the perfect menu. The communication was excellent. E-Mails and phone responses were pronto. I think that is key in any business transaction. I contacted other catering companies and had to leave voicemails that did not get returned for up to 5 days. A & E responded within 24hours each time. My wife and I were invited for a tasting which was excellent. This gave us a chance to sample the menu we had selected. From there, it was smooth sailing up to the Wedding day. A & E did an incredible job making the food and arrangements beautiful. Everything went PERFECT! They truly took care of us. You can tell the care that is in the food as well as the display. Mary herself made sure my wife and I were personally taken care of. Everything from making sure our plates were ready when we sat down, to making sure the cake was cut and distributed. I highly recommend using Affordable Events & My Catering for any event. I know we surely will in the future. The experience was easy going and a blessing. Mary Jean Hayes (Affordable Events & My Catering) catered a 50th Wedding Anniversary Reception for us and did a fabulous job. Not only was the buffet beautiful, delicious, and continuously stocked, but the process leading up to the big day was smooth, convenient, and very professional. Any time I contacted her (usually through email or facebook), Mary Jean responded quickly. She is so easy to work with, and knows what she is doing! I used Affordable Events for my wedding a couple months ago. My wife and I met with Mary Jean and felt totally comfortable with her ability. The food was great and everyone was very happy with the food. She was amazing. She did a buffet and our wedding cake. I highly recommend this company to anyone. Wedding Reception - July 2010

My husband and I are extremely pleased with our catering vendor selection. From our experience Mary Jean was very professional and quick to respond on all our inquiries. She not only met, but exceeded our expectations. Every phone call or e-mail sent, she would always be the first one to respond out of all my vendors. As a bride, I wanted everything to go perfect and she just made everything so beautiful and delicious. We didn’t want a big elaborate menu, and she was able to help create a menu that everyone could enjoy. Mary Jean made my day so stress free when it came to the food, I didn’t have to ask if my caterer had arrived, because she checked in with me as soon as she got to our venue. Mary Jean also traveled a pretty good distance to cater our wedding and she also picked up our cakes. Delivering the cakes was something that she simply offered because she truly wanted our day to be perfect! After the reception was over, Mary Jean sent a huge bag (about 8 containers! ) with all sorts of delicious foods to take to our hotel. That was the best thing, because unfortunately at the wedding my husband and I really didn’t have enough time to try all the different types of foods, so that was a great way to end our day! Successful Grand Opening

Mary Jean recently catered a corporate event for our company's new facility in GA. I spoke with Mary Jean several times prior to the event and she - and her food - more than lived up to our expectations. The food was delicious - we received numerous compliments on the peach cobbler - and the waitstaff was professional and courteous. Mary Jean was also able to provide additional equipment for our event - cooling fans/audio equipment - which saved us from having to find additional vendors. We were extremely pleased with Mary Jean's services from start to finish - she help to make our event a success.

Mary Jean is fabulous! I came across her website months ago while planning my wedding. When I sent an email inquiry, she responded right away. When we discussed menu options over the phone, I felt like I was talking to a friend about planning a menu for a party. She was so helpful is narrowing down choices and making decisions based on the guests, location, time of year, etc. When my mom and I went for the tasting, everything was simply wonderful. It is SO apparent that Mary Jean takes great pride in making every single one of her customers happy. She took care of all the reception details including beverages, flatware and dishes, napkins and table linens. When I saw the setup at the reception she had really gone the extra yard... she brought a beautiful tier for my cake, flowers and ivy to decorate the table, set each place setting around every table... all of the details were taken care of. I had left a box of my favors, cake topper, and other miscellaneous items ! in the tent before I got ready and I completely forgot to go outside and explain what to do with them. No explanation necessary, she had taken care of all of it without having to ask a single question. I was so relaxed during the reception, she made my husband and I plates and everyone raved about the food. The best part was dessert - her pecan pie is to die for! I grew up in Georgia and have eaten so many pecan pies... but hers is the best hands down. Her cake was fabulous too! Not just the taste but also the decoration. I got a bakery cake for 1/10 of the price. I can't recommend Mary Jean enough. Just book a tasting and you'll be convinced she is right for you! - Lauren

Rehearsal Party - October 2009

I am not quite sure where to start in describing my recent experience with Mary Jean Hays and her company, Affordable Events and My Catering. My son and now daughter-in-law, who live in the metro Atlanta area, set a date to get married in October 2009. As the bride-to-be was of Italian heritage I soon learned that her family commonly moved away from the traditional wedding party rehearsal dinners and instead enjoyed a pre-wedding get together where all the family members and friends could meet, eat and greet. At that moment I knew a monumental task awaited me in planning, organizing and hosting an event for 50 plus individuals, especially in light of the fact that I lived out of town, in Savannah. After seemingly long hours spent searching the internet I happened across the website for Affordable Events and My Catering. What followed not only developed into a business arrangement between Mary Jean and me, but also what I consider a new found friendship. I knew from first meeting Mary Jean at the taste testing that I had found THE caterer, not only for the food which I was served that day, but because of the comfort level I felt in placing the entire event in her experienced hands. From start to finish, but consulting me every step of the way, Mary Jean researched, planned, organized, and prepared an event that was second to none. Even in the face of in-climate weather that occurred for what had originally been planned as an outside event, Mary Jean took charge, moving everything inside, and produced a presentation that was unbelievable. As for me, I arrived on the scene with my family to find everything in place, some very content guests, and a party in progress which I was able to relax and enjoy. The compliments I received that night were innumerable and covered everything from food presentation and wonderful servers, to some of the most delicious food that most had ever tasted. If you have the need for a caterer and/or party planner, look no further, as Mary Jean is your answer. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in the services she provides, not to mention some of the most delicious food you will ever taste. Oh! And did I mention affordable?!?!?! You bet she is! Wonderful Wedding Reception

Words can not express how pleased and excited I was to have Affordable Events & My Catering involved with my wedding. It really made our traditional wedding reception enjoyable. Ms. Hays went above and beyond what I could have ever asked for in a caterer. She was there for me whenever I needed her and would do anything she could to make it easier, a true lifesaver even down to the day of the wedding with some complications with our cake! I booked a bakery for my wedding cake before I found Ms. Hays, but if not she would have done my wedding cakes too! Our family and guests had nothing but praises and compliments about her catering, delicious food, set-up, and professional attitudes of herself and her workers. Whatever you needed done, they were there and would take care of it. I did not have to worry about a single thing for the set-up and decoration at the reception. My new husband and I enjoyed our basket full of food and ate every bite the night of our wedding. I couldn't be more thankful and consider myself blessed that I found Ms. Hays. 08-15-09 WEDDING BUFFET

We had a wedding of about 40-50 people and Affordable Events catered the dinner. It was a buffet of eggplant and london broil with the goodies.I Highly recommend them. First of all they were professional but flexible as I had a couple of specific requests. They went over and above to help and weren't just interested in making money.Several guests went up and complemented them on the food as it was outstanding, and presentation of food was eye appealing. I loved the glass jars for the lemonade and iced tea along with the fruit parfait in the champagne glasses-that was something i paid extra for that was

Bridal Shower

We chose MJ to cater our son's wedding based on the amazing food and service we sampled at our tasting. When planning a bridal shower for my future daughter in law, I initially intended to order a couple special items from MJ that my FDIL loved at the reception-tasting but didn't choose for her reception due to the fact if we had chosen everything we loved, there would be no room at the reception for guests, because the food would have taken over the space. Every single thing we tested was amazing!! Well, when I looked over the menu and the prices, I realized I could have MJ do all the food for the shower and still stay on budget. This was the single best decision I made in the entire planning of the shower. Not only did having the food catered alleviate ton's of pressure in preparing for the shower, but the food was sooo delicious! Our guests just went on an on about it. 50th Wedding Anniversary

Wow! Affordable Events & My Catering, were exceptional!! I would have easily given them more stars than the rating system provided. With less than 2 weeks notice they helped this novice plan the menu for an expected 100 guests and performed way beyond the call of duty for my in-law's 50th Anniversary Celebration. They were on time, the food was marvelous and beautifully presented, not to mention the quantities - more than enough to handle our crowd. Everyone complimented the food.
